What's in a name?

"What's in a name? That which we call a rose, by any other name would smell as sweet."... no no, I'm not gonna go all Shakespeare on you with Romeo & Juliet... but what I really want to share is the "NAME"..

I'm proud of my name that sometimes (most of the time actually) when people do get spell it wrong, I cannot tahan. See, my name is special to me - KARREN. Double RR!!! :D Not all the Karen/Caren out there is the Karren with double Rs ok?.. Well, there was a story on how I ended up so special with double Rs. Momsie told me that while she was filling up the birth certificate application thingy she was busy talking with one of the staff nurse that she actually had forgotten she already wrote down an "R".....*faint anot?* Hahahahaha...

But I am proud of my name :) At least my parents didn't go too creative/ crazy  and name me this Brfxxccxxmnpcccclllmmnprxvclmnckssqlbb11116. It's pronounced as Albin by the way and was a name intended for a Swedish child who was born in 1991. Ok, the child's parents were not high on drugs when they name the kid ok? They did so as a protest against the naming law in Sweden. Google if you want to know more about this.

So yeah, I was doing my usual stuff and stumbled across the most amusing/ longest/ funniest/ OMG-ness names for places in the world and these are the top 3 in the list!

1.Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwyll-llantysiliogogogoch

No. I did not just slam my face on the keyboard. Really got this name one.. This is the name of a town in North Wales. The name translates as "The church of St. Mary in the hollow of white hazel trees near the rapid whirlpool by St. Tysilio's of the red cave" in Welsh, has long claimed the fame of having the longest name in the world.

British Memorial Gardens
Hahahahaha... Imagine if he one of our LRT/ Monorails stations named as such or when you are suppose to meet up with a friend at this station. Instead of saying hey let's meet at Asia Jaya you'll be like er....wtf lol.. But hey, the Welsh are proud of this station which I don't see why they shouldn't. Nothing wrong what... bring more attention/fame to the town some more. They even have a song to this dedicated for those who wants to learn to pronounce the name of this town. Give it a try :)

2.Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateapokaiwhenuakitanatahu

So from Wales we are going down all the way to Hawke's Bay, New Zealand. This Maori mouthful translates into English as "the place where Tamatea, the man with the big knees, who slid, climbed and swallowed mountains, known as 'landeater,' played his flute to his loved one."

Taumata
This time no sing-a-long video for you guys la. Want to sing so much go Neway/ Redbox. I do however found a video on how to pronounce the name in full. The locals call it Taumata for short. If you noticed, it sounded like "die motha fukah" at the beginning. LOL

I'm actually pretty excited about this place because I will be going to NZ next month! For a good 2 weeks ++! :D Not sure if the plan will include Hawke's Bay though.. I still have not plan out the itinerary yet and it's exactly one month away only. HELP! Like seriously ok?..

And FINALLY...

3.Krungthepmahanakonbowornratanakosinmahintarayudyayamahadiloponoparatanarajthaniburiromudomrajniwesmahasatarnamornpimarnavatarsatitsakattiyavisanukamphrasit

This my friends, is actually Bangkok. It is know in Thai as that name or simply "Krung Thep" meaning "City of Angels". Am super excited about this city too because I'll be heading there in September for a 5 days 4 night post birthday trip. Yeah!!! *super happy face*

Till then.
